"A Little Bit of Everywhere."

Thought of that last night, and I think it sounds like an awesome book title.

....

I don't know when I typed that initially, but when I just loaded this page, LJ asked if I wanted to load from my saved draft.

Anyway. Yes.

Update!

A couple of days ago, I had an idea.

What if I were to take Habitat for Humanity, strip out the Christianity, and build earthships instead of regular houses?

What I'd end up with is a way to help people who are struggling while at the same time having a lower impact on the environment than a regular house.

In the two days since I had the idea, I've spent about five or six hours at the library (hey, it's the weekend; the library's not open very long, and I had to go to work at 5 anyway) doing research on green building, earthships, and nonprofit organizations. I've found out a lot already that I didn't know or hadn't thought about (for instance, it takes ~133.33 times as much energy to produce virgin steel as it does to produce baled straw). I've gotten in touch with one person who has some information on how to start a nonprofit, but it'll be awhile before I can meet with her to discuss things.

What I'm wondering is whether any of YOU have ideas, suggestions, or recommendations for me as I wade further into this developing obsession.

Thanks!

Yep, finally made the move to the Upper Peninsula. Got all my shit (mostly) up here last weekend, and now I have to unpack it all. Fun times.

In other news, I've found a new card game to get addicted to: Hecatomb.

Take the Hecatombâ„¢ TCG What Is Your Doom? quiz.

You scored as Existentialist, Existentialism emphasizes human capability. There is no greater power interfering with life and thus it is up to us to make things happen. Sometimes considered a negative and depressing world view, your optimism towards human accomplishment is immense. Mankind is condemned to be free and must accept the responsibility.

Yeah. That's pretty awesome.

So! First post since right before I left for Yellowstone. All I'm going to say is that it was completely amazing except for the managers.

Also, with the right map of Yellowstone, the park would be a superb place to set a D&D game. *Grins.*

Just watched "Deja Vu," thanks to Netflix. It's an odd movie with exactly the opposite theme as "Donnie Darko."

I give it a 3 out of 5.

There's a 11% Chance That You Need Therapy

You almost certainly don't need therapy. You have your life under control - and things are going pretty well.
If anything, you would make a great therapist. You have a natural understanding of human psychology.

If it's legit, it's awesome. And hell, they have video of the things working, so there's a good chance they DO work. That, or they're hiding the combustion engine and emissions somewhere off camera.

HEY

For those of you with web cams, go here and sign up. It's a site that allows video chat between a bunch of different people. They're working on interoperability between a bunch of blog sites, and they already have compatibility with Friendster, Xanga, Blogger, and eBay.

The chat rooms are retarded, but most are.

[info]invictuspenguin and I stopped by Sempco today for the second time, and this time, we brought a digital camera. I uploaded the pictures tonight, and these are some of the ones I particularly enjoy.

Outside, we have a wire cage. We're not sure what it was used for, but we certainly had a fun time speculating.
